Hazel Burns Hospice offers workshops to our volunteers as well as the community.

  Education for the volunteer:
Education for the volunteer includes:
- Grief Companioning
- HAO In-home Volunteer Training

Hazel Burns Hospice volunteers are trained for 30 hours in Palliative issues and attend educational seminars.
Training topics include:

- Emotional & Psychological Issues of Dying & Death
- Spiritual Issues of Death & Dying
- The Family
- Illness Specific Information
- Infection Control

- Recognizing the Signs of Imminent Death, Providing Care
- Grief & Bereavement
- Ethical Issues in Hospice Care
- Responsibilities of the Volunteer
- Care for the Volunteer Caregiver

  Lending Library:
Hazel Burns Hospice has information, books, and compact disks on Hospice, Palliative issues, grief, terminal issues, legal issues, care-giving, self-care, and inspirational material.
